ESSENCIA

RESTAURANT, BUDAPEST V.

The Portuguese-Hungarian fusion restaurant is located in the downtown area of Budapest.

In designing the interior, it was important to convey a sense of homeliness and capture the Portuguese way of life. A special feature is the "inner courtyard" created in the first section of the interior, evoking the atmosphere of grape arbors.

Realized in 2020.

OSTERIA POMO'DORO (D.O.C.)

RESTAURANT, BUDAPEST V.

The place was created by merging three retail spaces. One of these spaces was the D.O.C wine bar, and the main idea was to merge this bar in the new space with the shop and breakfast functions of the Gastronomia Pomo D’oro, moving it over from the opposite building, and complete the place with a kitchen. Despite merging the three retail spaces, due to the increased functions, we literally fought for every centimeter.

Our most important design task was to transfer the existing and beloved, yet very different atmospheres of the Gastronomia and the wine bar to the new venue while creating a fresh, modern space and a unified spatial experience. The brick surface running throughout the entire guest area and the uniform flooring significantly contribute to the unified effect. Additionally, we retained the vibrant blue color of the wine bar, chose white as the color for the Gastronomia, and introduced the same counter front covering for both areas in different shades. The built-in oak furniture maintains a consistently modern design throughout the entire space, but in the Gastronomia section, we incorporated some elements from the old location; the company sign from the facade now adorns the counter front, and the counter is framed by the massive beams salvaged from the old retail space.

TERRA

RESTAURANT, BUDAPEST I.

The function of the place was also a restaurant before, but the new owner wanted a design that aligns with the kitchen's concept, so we completely transformed the space. Our catchwords were Mother Nature, closeness to nature, and tradition; we had to shape these concepts in a way that would be appealing to an audience that prefers elegant and modern spaces.

We used warm colors and plenty of wood. All the patterns, the rugs, the counter, the room dividers appearing in the space are inspired by Hungarian folklore and are designed by us for this project. We transformd the massive concrete columns into carved wooden pillars, the appearance of which was also inspired by the traditional Hungarian folk architecture. We constructed a space divider from carved railing elements.and envisioned a stylized topography on the ceiling made of gypsum board, the top layer of which was also covered with wood. The craftsmen dubbed this formation "lake" at the beginning of the construction, so we referred to it in the same way thereafter.

PICK BISTRO & DELI

RESTAURANT, BUDAPEST V.

We were given the task of dreaming up a restaurant on Kossuth Square, one of the most prominent parts of Budapest.

According to the customer's request, the restaurant reflects the features of English elegance, French bistro and Hungarian traditions, thus creating a space that is lovable to both foreign tourists and the Hungarian public.

As a result, the design became an eclectic interior reflected in the image of Budapest, with a various, yet harmoniously cooperating colors and textures. Warm tones, plenty of mirrors and pictures designed like a gallery wall bring homeliness into the space, while the rejuvenation of the place is promoted by the playful elements of the iron gates decorated with plants hanging from the ceiling and the crystal chandelier above the counter.

DOBAY PASTRY SHOP

PASTRY SHOP, HALÁSZTELEK.

The aim of the concept was to create a place that is outside of the world of gray everyday life, a little secret place of your own, a secret garden. We dreamed of a patisserie that suggests safety, homeliness and yet special.

The Dobay patisserie is a garden that can be interpreted in an abstract way, a gateway to the world of reimagined 19th century classic French patisserie and its special cakes open. Perhaps the most important element of function and space is the large cake counter, which completely encompasses the inside interior spaces. The counter is a modern version of a classic French ice cream cart, yet fresh and innovative with its curved shapes, size and upholstered covering.

Due to the function, the surfaces were simply treated with natural and pastel colors, so that the main role remained with the cakes, as a complement to this, a classical wallpaper with a classic flower pattern was placed on the ceiling, which, due to its position, playfully establishes the concept, yet does not distract attention. In addition, nature appears in the space in different ways in the important areas, such as the counter, the photo corner and the table tops.

PIZZABAR POMO D'ORO (BAR D'ORO)

RESTAURANT, BUDAPEST V.

The venue operates as a pizzeria during the day and transforms into a Campari bar at night. Accordingly, we had to determine the ambiance of the interior to suit both functions. What they have in common is their Italian roots. Thus, in the design process, we also started from this point. We studied Italian restaurants, pizzerias, and bars, then translated what we observed into a modern space that fits Hungarian conditions, while still easily recognizable for its Italian influence through its stylistic elements.

TERRA SKYBAR

SKYBAR , BUDAPEST I.

The location is situated on the top of a sports center in Budapest and is currently almost entirely out of use. On the rooftop terrace, occasionally, wedding ceremonies are held on summer weekends, using the indoor space as a background; however, most of the time, both the indoor and outdoor areas remain vacant. This is why the client reconsidered the function of the space and asked us to design a bar where the indoor area exudes elegance and intimacy, while the outdoor area radiates a sense of lightness

CONCEPT PLAN  OF A RESTAURANT FACELIFT

RESTAURANT, BUDAPEST V.

The owner of the restaurant entrusted us with refreshing the existing design, as well as with the task of consolidating three distinct food types that can now be ordered separately at three individual counters into a single counter.

Besides the visual renewal, an important aspect of the facelift was to create a design that fits to all the three types of dishes available in the restaurant. The original industrial style worked well for the burger, and the pasta could be adjusted to it through its presentation. However, the Mexican taco seemed out of place. Therefore, while maintaining the industrial style as the main direction, we infused a bit of Mexican ambiance into the space through the wall graphics

SELOWEI

ÁRKÁD SHOPPING MALL

BUDAPEST

The client's request was to create a clean, modern space where products take center stage, but at the same time the store itself has a noticeable character too. To achieve this, we worked with black and white colors, along with natural wood. The white plus wood shelving system provides a restrained backdrop for the products, while the alternating black background and three-dimensional wooden wall covering add character to the space. Although subtle, the gate placed in the shop window attracts attention to the store from a distance.

INTERIOR DESIGN

HOTEL, BUDAPEST V.

The concept for this downtown hotel was to create an interior that preserves the original characteristics of the building but operates with modern tools. This was achieved in a way that, moving from the ground floor to the upper floors, the used design solutions and therefor also the ambient is shifting more and more from classical to contemporary.

INTERIOR DESIGN

BEAUTY SALON, BUDAPEST

In the mere 21-square-meter salon, we created separate workstations for a beautician and a nail artist.

Our primary task was the optimal division of the small rental space, achieved through economically feasible solutions. The light colors visually expand the space, while wooden surfaces lend it a sense of coziness.

Realized in 2017.

INTERIOR DESIGN

BEAUTY SALON, BUDAPEST III.

Upon the client's request, we created a light gray space complemented by a touch of powder pink. To break the monotony of monochromatic gray, we enlivened the walls with three-dimensional cladding and glittery paint. In the lobby and in the guest restroom, we could use both gray and pink more boldly, opting for darker tones and a very distinctive wallpaper.

TERMINAL

PARTY PLACE, BUDAPEST

The design was based on two guiding principles. One was to evoke the original function of the building; the new terminal invites you on an imaginary journey through Paris to New York. The other goal was to create a contemporary entertainment venue while respecting the historical values of the building.

INTERIOR DESIGN PLAN

DOWNTOWN ART DECO BAR

The uniqueness of this design lies in creating the Art Deco style interior through using contemporary, modern tools. The rhythm of the interior is defined by the alternation of windows and wall panels along the length of the space, reflected in the placement of table groups and wall decorations. A significant defining element of the space is the large modern crystal chandeliers placed in the vaults. The most significant tools for defining the character of the space are the floor coverings, whose alternation contributes to spatial organization, direction, and flow between areas. The character is further enhanced by the individually designed textile-leather wall coverings combined with brass separator elements.

INTERIOR DESIGN

HIGH TECH BAR, BUDAPEST V.

Our aim was to blend the classic bar atmosphere with industrial and futuristic characteristics.

The main directive was to treat the spiral staircase connecting the three levels and the beer lift running through all three levels as high-tech defining elements.
